This talk will be given by Alan Flint. In 1956, Alan started a 39 year banking career, initially with the Commonwealth Bank.
In 1960, Alan transferred to the newly formed Reserve Bank of Australia in Melbourne, where he worked mainly developing cash handling procedures including coin rolling operations.
In 1972, he moved to the Reserve Bank’s Note Printing Branch, where he supervised the destruction of soiled, mutilated, misprinted notes and postage stamps.
In 1988, he was appointed project manager for the construction of the Exhibition and Display Gallery as a Bicentennial year event.
In 1994, he retired and took up a position at a rare coin and banknote company in Melbourne for the following 15 years.
