Modern fire science has been influenced for many decades by colonising attitudes of control and domination of the natural landscape. Practices such as broadscale burning of bushland have routinely been used in an attempt to reduce bushfire risk. Some recent research is pointing to a different approach to forest management of areas further than 500m from townships – that of ecological cooperation.

Presenters: Dr Philip Zylstra, Vicky Shukuroglou from Nillumbio and Aawa White from Kinglake Friends of the Forest.

Organised by Nillumbik Friends of the Great Forest.
