Kathy Allan – Exploring Art Skills
Written in November 2024.
In my own words
I have enjoyed craft for as long as I can remember. I’m a bit of a ‘Jack of all trades and master of none’, always trying something new. My background is in hospitality and small business and, when I retired, I found the time to try something new.
I joined Acquiring Art Skills at Nillumbik U3A and there I found my tribe. I am now co-tutor of the group and also a member of Applying Art Skills.
These classes allow me to share ideas and be inspired by others in a space that both nurtures and expands my knowledge of my art practice.
What my students will learn
The classes focus on basic art practices and skills. Developing and gaining confidence, students learn to express themselves creatively while trying different techniques and mediums.
Class structure
Each class starts with a discussion and demonstration of the skill or medium, followed by individual practice.
Why did you volunteer to run this class?
I noticed the need for a class focused on basic art skills and also to lessen the length of waiting lists in the other art groups.
