Jane Harper’s The Dry re-introduced the world to Australian rural crime fiction. Join Fiona Malcolm as she discusses the best (and rest) of this exciting sub-genre of crime fiction. Discover new authors, new towns and some amazing scenery as you travel around outback Australia between the pages of the books.

This will be the second talk given by Fiona. Fiona moved into public libraries 30 something years ago where she shared her love of crime fiction with all and sundry. She can’t remember when she didn’t want to be a librarian. From the moment she saw Batman on TV (Adam West version) and discovered that Batgirl was a librarian, her future was sealed. What could be better? Librarian by day, crime fighter by night. Fiona started work at the Melbourne Athenaeum Library in March 2020, just in time to close the library due to Covid-19.
