On 15th May, Christine Lister discussed 16 amazing Australian women – historical and contemporary humanitarians, celebrities, politicians, journalists, athletes, adventurers, feminists and heroines.
They included: women leaders and achievers who made a difference to Australian society and changed attitudes to women’s and girls’ roles; rebels – remarkably resourceful and resilient rebels – devoted to causes they believed in; and trailblazers too, breaking through the barriers of society’s expectations. Despite the significance of their achievements, they were often ridiculed, rejected, forgotten or overlooked by history. Christine also talked about the feminine leadership qualities and personal characteristics that set exceptional women apart.
